Kho Pangnan

The travel to Koh Phangnan was rather nerve wrecking ... before heading of to the island we were debating whether to stay on Koh Phangnan or go to the nearby island Koh Samui, in the end we stuck with Koh Phangnan, and we are so glad we did ... It's said that traveling by night buses in Thailand isn't safe, although we didn't know this until the next day. About an hour from the peer the next morning after setting off we came to a sudden stop, a night buss heading to Koh Samui had been caught in a tragic accident. As we drove past this bus was off the road on its side, tangled in the electric and telephone cables. As the bus was from the same company we had to stop. The driver got out to check what had happened and find out where the bus was heading to as others on our bus had friends on our sister VIP bus (luckily for them this bus wasn't it). When the driver came back on we were hit with the horrific news that this bus was heading to Koh Samui and that already they had pulled 10 dead bodies from the bus, including the driver, the majority of which were foreigners, most likely heading for the Full Moon. It's times like this which make you feel sick that that could have very almost been you, and you realize how lucky you really are. Later on that day we checked the news about it, and it turns out the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel - NO MORE NIGHT BUSES FOR US!
On a happier note, traveling around South East Asia is known for partying and having a good time, which is why me and Becky headed to Koh Phangnan, famous for it's Full Moon Parties. The Full Moon is basically a massive party on the beach, jam packed full of travelers from all over. I imagined the beach lined with bars blaring out the latest music, people dancing all over, some crazy drunken activities and went expecting to see things i never imagined, and thats exactly what I got. The bars were full, there were high platforms jumping with people, they had slides with rings of fire set up, long skipping ropes on fire, (the amount of people who would have woken up with burns from that aoch) the beach was so packed, you would have never known there was sand under there - although the sand in your shoes was a nice reminder.

Before heading down to the beach me and Becky managed to find Ellie Katie and Rebecca, we went back to there hostel where a group of their friends were already out painting themselves up. We must have been there for well over an hour painting each other, sipping on our buckets (literally a bucket, yes, like a beach bucket, with vodka, coke, red bull and ice) we had spots around the eyes, twirly patterns on arms, flowers down the face, feathers, butterflies...anything and everything, my personal favourite was the dragons I painted on mine and Becky's ankle. Getting it of the next day took a fare bit of scrubbing, but it was worth it for the look when you went under florescent lighting. The jorney down to the beach was interesting, you had to go with the flow, if you wante to go right and everyone else was going left, you had to go left, we linked arms and hoped not to loose anyone, and managed it thankfully. It was a great night, and we didnt loose anyone!
Later in the night (or should I say early the next morning) there was only a few of us left up, when me and Rebecca bumped into Matt. It was good seeing him as again i've not seen Matt since I went back up to Xinjiang after traveling in winter. Unfortunetely Matt hadn't been soo lucky on the loosing people front, as he and his friends had lost Ollie quite early on into the night. I made it back to the hotel about 8 in the morning, so all in all, a good night.
Me and Becky then spent the next couple of days on the island, lying on the beach, swimming in the pool, which after Bangkok and the Full Moon was a nice way to rest, so nice we decided to hop over to the nearby island Koh Samui for another few days.
